Team’s Guardian (President)
The dictionary definition of true leadership is ’the key element to achieve true changes’, but we’re lucky enough to be able to simply call the embodiment of leadership ‘Joke’. We trust her completely, and see her as the glue that holds the team together. She is those nuts and bolts in an Ikea kit you can’t do without and she always has a ready smile. Unless she puts her game-face on. #GuardianOfGuardians
Cindy Callens
PR Guardian (PR/Social Media)
There was a time before Cindy. During that time, we sometimes mentioned social media and pr, yet no actual PR was happening (save for a few Facebook posts). Lucky for the Gargoyles, Cindy was thrilled to take over our close-to-nonexistent PR, and it has become hard to imagine a time before Cindy. Our Facebook page is kept up-to-date, we have a website, we’re represented at events and the Belgian media can’t get enough of the Gargoyles. Cindy does not just work in PR, she works miracles in PR. We’re extremely glad she’s ours. #PRasitshouldbe
Gorik Verbeken
Player’s Guardian (Trainer)
Passionate as he is about quidditch and the team, Gorik would simply want to do everything on his own if we let him. Luckily, we managed to make him focus his enthusiasm on one thing only: being the Gargoyles’ trainer. It’s Gorik who provided us with the slogan ‘spread your wings and show your horns’, and it’s also Gorik who puts his own words into practice. Actual flying is, sadly, not yet a thing, but he does force our players to rise above themselves during practice. Together with Ellen, he decides on the right exercises during practice, while providing enough variety to keep the players interested. His foreign experiences and contact with other trainers sure come in handy for this. Gorik makes sure there’s an actual team on the pitch, and that our players are also a team off-pitch, with everyone having each other’s back if necessary.#MyTeamMyProblem
Ellen Vander Heyden
Pitch’s Guardian (Coach)
Originally the Gargoyles’ trainer, Ellen has since discovered that world domination is more her cup of tea. On a small scale, this goal outs itself in the development of strategies and tactics for our games, and even we don’t know how this outs itself on a larger scale. If needed, Ellen supports Gorik during the weekly practices, but it’s during games that she’s really in her element. Like no other, she keeps an eye on the positions, makes sure that the gender rule is respected, and that exhausted players get substituted in time. Apart from being a strategic genius, Ellen is mostly a creative genius, so always expect the unexpected to happen when playing the Gargoyles. #RealLifeMastermind
